Nutter Climbs to Victory

In what was billed as a fun cocktail competition, the atmosphere was electric at the Alchemist bar Manchester as Andrew and his team mates Jamie Jones, Neil Bethell and Nadine Merabi, competed against main rival socialite Dianne Bourne and her team.

The occasion was the launch of Alchemists new cocktail list and the winning cocktail is to appear on their menu for a limited period - Rivalry was intense as Nutter pulled the cat out of the bag and scaled the huge ladder in the Alchemist bar, spectacularly pouring vanilla vodka, into an awaiting glass below, showmanship won the day and the Nutters Team clinched the title.

Nutter goes global as show airs in Canada and the Oprah Winfrey channel in USA.

Andrews\'s quest for global recognition hit the big time as a show he filmed recently aired in Canada and USA. He was involved as a judge on a cult TV show "Anna and Kristina\'s grocery bag" which aired to millions of viewers overseas.

The show saw hosts Anna and Kristina travel to England to test a cookbook of old traditional British classics. The cookbook was Marguerite Patten\'s best British dish but it was the judging aspect when Andrew came into his own with his Lancastrian Banter - \'eh by gum\' and \'ecky thump\' (translator at the ready!) which had the shows production team in stiches.

The show was filmed over 2 days, one at Nutters Restaurant and the other at Swinton Park in Yorkshire showcasing dishes like faggots and rabbit stew.

But did the hosts cut the mustard and let Marguerite Patten recipes shine? Tune in later this year when it airs in the UK.

Tree in restaurant grounds blown over in high winds - Rochdale Online, date published: 06 January 2012

A 70ft tree in the grounds of Nutters restaurant in Norden has been blown over following high winds.

The tree - believed to date back to 1850 - was discovered by the restaurant\'s proprietor Andrew Nutter on Thursday morning following terrible gales on Wednesday night.

In a post on Twitter, Mr Nutter said: "Tree down. Good job no one sat under it. But will fuel our fires for a year!!!"

He later added: "70ft tree dating to 1850 toppled in [Nutters] Rochdale."

The New PorK Times - In Hog We Trust - Mr Nutter visits Dingley Dell Pork/Ashmoor Hall Farm

Andrew Nutter visits and quite amazingly controls the weather.

Tuesday started much like any other day in early Jan fairly wet and windy, and with me thinking I knew what lay ahead. Around noon the rain turned into a sort of Sri Lankan monsoon and the call came from Mr Nutter I\'m not very far away can I visit. Now this is where things get eerie its the mother of all rain storms now and no sooner do we hit the pig site and as you can see in the photo, blue sky and sunshine.

After showing Andrew around we decamped to The British Larder for some dingley dell pork belly and the first drink of what turned out to be quite an evening ! Andrew it was a pleasure to meet you and a magnificent afternoon but you never did explain how you changed the weather.

Chef Trip to Rungis

Always on the lookout for new and exciting produce, Andrew was invited over to Rungis Market in Paris by his fruit and vegetable supplier R.Noone and Sons.

The market is the central hub of specialist foods from all around the world and certainly fires up the imagination and creativity.

Nutters Brings in the New Year with a Bang!

Nutters brought in the New Year with a bang in more ways than one! After a fantastic evening of fabulous food on New Year\'s Eve, Nutters fireworks were the ideal finale to the evening and the fitting start to the exciting times of 2012.

Days later, a bang of another kind occurred when one of our 70ft beech trees dating back to 1870 was toppled in the gales that hit Greater Manchester. Luckily no one was hurt and we\'ve got firewood for the year! Happy New Year!

Christmas Helpline – BBC Radio Manchester

Live on Christmas Day, Andrew was on hand to help out with any last minute cookery dilemmas. Listeners could either ring in or this year Andrew even offered the opportunity if anyone had had a complete disaster, they could turn up at the back door and he would do a Christmas Dinner take away. Luckily no one did as he was up to his eyeballs in turkeys, sausages and sprouts!!

Key 103 Office Party!

An afternoon of indulgence was had by presenters Darren Proctor and Sam Walker courtesy of Andrew Nutter. Fed up of her constant talk of random mince pies and nibbles Darren had arranged a gourmet surprise for his co-host for the day, Sam Walker.

Andrew turned up at the studio with an extravaganza of seasonal treats much to the delight of Sam as her shrieks of enjoyment were heard across the North West and with a Bellini cocktail to wash it all down, it certainly was a very merry Christmas!

Can Nutter Create Britain’s Best Dish?

From café owners to Michelin-starred chefs, the culinary standard in the studio has never been higher as some of the UK\'s most celebrated chefs showcase their signature recipes, all created specifically for the show.

Question is can Andrew create Britain\'s best dish? He thinks so ..... Tune into ITV on Thursday 24th November at 5pm as his dish - the chocolate sweet box comes under scrutiny. The creation based on childhood memories includes delights such as nutty brittle, honeycomb chocolate indulgence, toffee mallow and chewy flapjack.

Some of the show has already been filmed at his award winning restaurant Nutters and also on location near Greenbooth Reservoir in Rochdale doing off road running.

The main bulk of the programme is due to be filmed at the main BBC Studios in London. Presented by MARY NIGHTINGALE, each day professional chefs from across the country go head-to-head in a series of keenly contested cooking duels to find out who has the Best Main Course and the Best Pudding.

The competition is whittled down as the chefs do their best to impress BEST DISH: THE CHEFS judges ED BAINES, JOHN BURTON RACE and JILLY GOOLDEN, and esteemed experts from Britain\'s best selling restaurant guide - The Good Food Guide.

Regional winners are entered into the national finals where they will be pushed to their limits as they take on the fight of a lifetime. The pressure mounts as the chefs\' reputations - and the restaurants they represent - are on the line as they battle it out for the most coveted accolade in cooking.

Nutter Mixes It Up for Stir Up Sunday

It was spoons and mixing bowls at the ready this weekend as Andrew was involved in the nationwide tradition of Stir Up Sunday; the annual event where households around the country roll up their shirt sleeves and mix up their Christmas cakes and puddings.

The discussion was broadcast on Smooth Radio with Andrew getting the legendary radio presenter Emma B chuckling with his anecdotes of alcohol and whether in this day and age of Political Correctness it was alright to include a silver coin in your pudding in case someone chokes on it and sues you!

Nutters takes to the high seas!!

Andrew certainly needed his webbed feet ready when he took part in a live broadcast for BBC RADIO MANCHESTER with presenter Becky. Although the sea was actually the Bridgewater Canal and the boat was a barge. But hey! Cooking onboard was bit extreme to say the least using a zander fish caught in the canal and using ingredients found in store cupboards onboard the boat. Sounds gruesome but a delicious feast was produced and a non fish eater was converted to zander. Job done!!

Nutters is Lancashire Life Restaurant of the Year 2011/2012

Nutters Storm to Victory to Gain

Lancashire Life Restaurant of the Year 2011...

At a glittering gala dinner at Manchester\'s Midland Hotel, Nutters was crowned Lancashire Life Restaurant of the Year 2011.

The yearly awards sponsored by Lancashire Life Magazine were hosted by Granada Tonight\'s Lucy Meacock and food critic Ray King.

The awards were presented in front of a packed audience of over 400 foodies and restauranteurs and are a celebration of great food and hospitality here in the North West.

“I am delighted to have won the title, but for me it is a true group effort and special thanks must go to the whole team who work so hard in making the restaurant what it is" said Andrew.

Andrew first won an award with the magazine when at just 21 he was crowned The Lancashire Chef of The Year. He caused quite a stir with the media turning up with Nutter shaved in the back of his head. At least at the event on Tuesday he was a bit more low key ... well almost.

Nutters turns news reporter as he's caught up in gas explosion.

Andrew swapped jobs for the night and turned his hat to journalism. As he was caught up in a gas explosion which happened in Albert Square, Manchester.

Andrew caught the explosion as it happened on his iphone and used the power of social media site twitter to break the news. Within moments his phone was a hot line for the North West Media, trending on twitter, even his picture graced the papers of the Daily Mail as well as hourly bulletins on Key 103, Radio Manchester and appearances on Granada Reports and BBC Look North West.
Thankfully all those caught up in the blast are recovering well.

Northwest Food Lovers Festival

This year\'s festival was the best yet, with over 120 delicious food and drink stalls selling the best produce available from across the region. As well as the opportunity to taste, sample and buy all the delicious foods and drink, there were the ever popular celebrity chef demonstrations.

Recipe for the ultimate patriotic bash

Take 1 local celebrity chef host, add a London bus and stir in a 4ft canapé serving dwarf, throw in a whole roast Dexter beef, pour in a 4.5 Litre bottle of Grey Goose and mix generously with 150 guests.

You\'d have to be mad to try this recipe or maybe just a Nutter!

Andrew Nutters 40th Birthday Celebrations were in full force this week as he jetted across Europe. Ballymaloe House, Cork, Ireland and Louis XVI Hotel De Paris, Monaco, were top destinations, but the big bash was saved for at his favourite gastro pub the Mark Addy in Salford.

Fellow TV Chefs Brian Turner and Chris and James Tanner joined in the celebrations as a convoy of Bentleys, Rolls Royce\'s and a London bus headed from Rochdale down Deansgate to the Salford destination. Guests then took to the river on a patriotic cruise to the Anthems of Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory up the river Irwell.

Whole Roast Dexter Beef greeted revellers on their returns lovingly basted for 14 hours by chef pal Rob Owen Brown and all toasted with lots of Grey Goose Vodka. No stop for Nutter though who spent the following day filming for ITV 1\'s new show Britain\'s Best Dish - The Professionals.

A recipe for success it was and here\'s to Nutters 41st!!

18th Birthday Celebrations

Celebrity chef Andrew Nutter is buzzing with joy after a lavish 18th birthday party for his restaurant. The birthday bash is a firm fixture in the restaurant’s calendar, and began as Nutter’s way of hoisting two fingers at the doubters who felt that bringing the skills he acquired working in France to a restaurant on the hills above Rochdale was a recipe for failure.

“The birthday celebration started off because the locals were going to give me six months and I’d be going back to France with my tail between my legs” says Nutter.

Instead, Nutters thrived, outgrew its first home on the bleak moorland road between Rochdale and Edenfield, and eight years ago moved down the hill to an 18th century manor house in six-and-a-half acres of parkland at Norden, Rochdale.

Three hundred foodie regulars helped Nutter celebrate the restaurant’s coming of age in medieval style over two days. “We had a menu based on a medieval feast, and ornate music when people arrived”, he says. “We did a whole roast suckling pig that was paraded around the restaurant, lit up with fire.

“We had fruits of the world where you could sample really decadent fruits which were being discovered back then – wimberries and damsons and stuff like that, so we made a sorbet out of those, flavoured it with blood peach, which is quite sexy. “Mini chicken parfait was served and little venison game pies. Then the dessert was an After Eighteen torte, based on the classic After Eight chocolates”. Erm, are After Eight mints medieval, Andrew? “We kind of stopped the medieval bit after the main course”, he replies.

******

******

With Crushed Raspberry Ice Cream

- the dessert definitely got the ladies approval!

Jean-Christophe Novelli backs Rochdale chef Andrew Nutter for Michelin star

While Greater Manchester remains without a restaurant deemed worthy of a coveted Michelin star, acclaimed celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli reckons there\'s one particular Manc chef who is being overlooked for the honour.

For heart-throb Frenchman Jean-Christophe, who famously held two Michelin stars during his chef career, says Rochdale\'s own Andrew Nutter should be awarded the most prestigious foodie accolade for his long-standing Nutters Restaurant.

Jean-Christophe says: "I\'ve had the fortune to cook alongside Andrew and I was really impressed by him. He\'s a serious chef and I think he\'s great. For me, he is worthy of the Michelin star and if I was not so busy I would have headed there for dinner tonight."

Food Standards Agency – National ‘Food Hygiene Rating Scheme’

Nutters Restaurant has been rated \'5\', which is the highest rating for hygiene reflecting the standards found on inspection by Rochdale MBC.

Andrew is extremely pleased that all his team are on board to keep up the high standards of cleanliness which in this day and age is one of the most important aspects of good kitchen practice. Well done Nutters team, keep up the hard work.

Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club

As the sun shone early on the Sunday morning the air was filled with a gentle purr of motorcars, as over 100 Rolls Royce enthusiasts embarked on a celebration lunch at Nutters.

They had travelled from far and wide to join their fellow members and enjoyed the day so much they\'re looking at putting it in as a regular date in their diary.

For the Love of England!!!

Oh what a night!! 180 diners enjoyed the ultimate English feast when Nutters staged their annual patriotic event to celebrate St Georges Day.

A chorus of Rule Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem was sang loud and proud, last revellers not leaving till the early hours of the morning!

Cakes Fit For A New Princess

Next week sees Nutters Restaurant host its Royal Wedding Afternoon Tea.

The special afternoon tea will run throughout the week Tuesday to Thursday on the run up to the big event. The selection of cakes have had insiders knowledge and Andrew bumped into Buckingham Palace\'s Head Chef Mark Flanagan at a charity event last week to gain valuable information as what is to be served on the big day. The range is also inspired by top cake designer to the Royals Mich Turner M.B.E.

Man on a mission...

When I got a call from Peter Jackson the jeweller asking whether I could cater for their Theo Fennell and Breitling watches showcase, and he wanted the wow factor I was a man on a mission.

So knowing Theo, renowned for his extravagant jewellery and Breitling for their masterful craftsmanship I knew I could not disappoint. So for Inspiration I ventured across to Peter\'s new Bury shop. My mission to create an afternoon tea inspired by Peter Jacksons show window, made entirely out of sugar, marzipan and chocolate.

My brain was on overload there were no rules and no boundaries . With this task I couldn\'t let peter down though - let alone myself.

So with a swipe of my magic wand.... Hey Presto! Willy Wonka eat your heart out. Whippie scrumptious fudge mallow delight tarts, sacher torte with edible gold flakes, orange fudge and Grand Marnier cheesecake - even Peter Jackson éclairs.

Attention to detail was paramount even down to edible Theo Fennells\' infamous skulls, sugar rings and not forgetting chocolate Breitling watches.

And was Theo impressed?......you bet he was - so much so he packed the skulls up and they\'re now in a glass cabinet in his London store.

Mission Complete.

It seems that the North West has gone pancake crazy.

Only moments after taking part in a BBC Radio Manchester retail therapy live from the Arndale Centre talking about pancakes, I then made a guest spot with my mate Darren Proctor on his Key 103 lunchtime show, which certainly got belly\'s rumbling as we\'ve been inundated with people ringing up for the recipe for the perfect pancake.

Hot non-stick pan, nice smooth batter, gentle flip and an adventurous filling. Enough said!!

Matter of Taste for Andrew

Celebrity chef Andrew Nutter is famed for his quirky creations. But while he admits he\'s eaten the likes of live scorpions, there was one food frontier that not even Nutter was mad enough to cross.
Rochdale-based Andrew explains: " I had a call yesterday to ask if I\'d taste test some breast milk ice cream. Now I\'ve eaten some quirky things in my time but I had to draw the line at that one."
An ice cream parlour in Covent Garden has launched the concoction, and Andrew got the call from the Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2.

Andrew shudders: "Radio 2 often give me a ring if they\'re doing a quirky food story, and yes, I\'m renowned for my quirkiness, but even that\'s a bit mental for me."
